Model dossiers

The launch is loud. The dossier is not.

A model ships, three days of noise follow, and the benchmark table going around was written by the company selling the thing. Every launch here gets the same examination in the same order: hard specs with a receipt attached to each one, whose job actually moves and whose does not move at all, and how much of the announcement survives a second reading. Whatever I could not verify ships anyway, labeled as unverified.

    Qwen3.8-27B

Twenty-seven point seven eight billion parameters, an Apache 2.0 license, image and video input, and a 262,144-token window. The useful question is not whether it caught up with the closed models — that depends entirely on which one and which week — but what the last remaining reason was to keep the model out of your own machine, and whether that reason still holds. What Qwen measured, what an outsider measured, and what nobody has measured are kept apart here.
